We are excited to welcome you to the Sri Lanka – Maldives Business Council. As two nations rich in culture and opportunity, this Council is a key step toward fostering stronger economic and business ties.

By providing a platform for like-minded business leaders, we ai to enable mutual growth, innovation, and long-lasting partnerships. Together, we can drive the future of trade and development across our nations.

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the Business Council shall be the promotion of trade and tourism between Sri Lanka and Maldives, and facilitating investment.

H.E Ranga Goonawardena

High Commissioner / Chairman - SLBCM

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, is an esteemed leader with a distinguished background in both public and private sectors. With over three decades of experience, he brings a wealth of expertise to his diplomatic role.

Educated at prestigious institutions, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the IIC University of Cambodia and an Advanced Diploma in Management from the International Professional Managers Association, UK.
As the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Macksons Properties (Pvt) Ltd, he demonstrated exceptional leadership. His visionary direction in the real estate sector in Sri Lanka has consistently driven revenue growth and expanded market presence. His strategic planning abilities and leadership
skills were instrumental in the design, development, and operation of landmark projects such as the Trillium Residences – a luxury apartment complex, and Mandarina Colombo – a distinguished 4-star business hotel.
Deeply committed to the nation’s development, he has been involved in
key areas of the public sector in Sri Lanka. Providing strategic input, he served on the board of several state-owned enterprises, and in the capacity of Advisor to the Minister of Tourism Promotion, as well as Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion.
As Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Ranga Goonawardena is poised to strengthen bilateral relations, foster
collaboration between the two nations, and promote mutual prosperity and development in the region.

Mr. Duminda Rathnadiwakara

President

Duminda Rathnadiwakara is a partner at KPMG Maldives and Sri Lanka, bringing over 22 years of expertise in audit, assurance, and advisory services across sectors including financial services, hospitality, telecommunications, and construction.
His experience encompasses external audits, SSAE 16 , reviews and consultancy on varies types of investments and business restructuring. Before joining KPMG, he worked with PwC UK, EY Barbados, and KPMG in the UAE, Sri Lanka, and the Eastern Caribbean. He is a fellow member of CA Sri Lanka and CA Maldives, he is an associate member of ACCA-UK and Certified Management Accountants (SL), and holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy and Financial Management (Special).
Mr. Ajith Nuwanthilaka

Vise President

Ajith brings over 17 years of experience in finance and logistics. He holds a B.Com from the University of Kelaniya and an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a member of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Certified Management Institute, UK. Currently, he is the CEO of TTS Group Maldives, where his leadership continues to drive success in the company.
Mr. Hareez Sulaiman

Vise President

Hareez Sulaiman has over 23 years of experience in the Takaful (Insurance) industry, progressing rapidly due to his extensive audit background and strong financial expertise.
He holds an Honors Degree in Accountancy from the International Islamic University of Malaysia, is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK, and earned his MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Wales. Currently, he leads Amana Takaful Maldives as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, utilizing his leadership and expertise to drive success.
MS. Nayomi Tennakoon

Secretary

Nayomi Tennakoon has over 28 years of experience in the Aviation Industry.She has a wealth of experience in passenger handling, aircraft weight and balance, and passenger sales.
She holds an MBA from the London Metropolitan University and has contributed her services in various leading roles. Having served Sri Lankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, for the past three decades, she currently serves as the Country Manager in the Maldives.
Mr. Elmo Sooriyaarachchi

Treasurer

Elmo Sooriyaarachchi, serves as MD/CEO of the Commercial Bank of Maldives (CBM) since November 2023.He has previously served as COO at CBM and held senior roles at the Commercial Bank of Ceylon

before moving to Maldives.Elmo holds a Master’s Degree in Business Studies from the University of Colombo and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka. He is also a Life Member of the Association of Professional Bankers and the Organization of Professional Associations in Sri Lanka Thank you.

Ms. Manjula Herath

Assistant Treasurer

Manjula Herath is a seasoned banker with 22 years of diverse experience across offshore, corporate, retail, SME, development, and Islamic banking.

She holds an MBA from the Post Graduate Institute of Management – University of Sri Jayawardanepura,and a Bachelor of Commerce (1st Class Hons.) from the University of Colombo. An Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, she also holds a Postgraduate Executive Diploma in Bank Management and has been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. In her current role as Country Manager for Bank of Ceylon Maldives, Manjula has demonstrated strong leadership and expertise. Her contributions extend beyond her roles, having been a member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and a Council Member of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Mohamed Anas

Committee member

Mohamed Anas Sanoon is a seasoned business leader with a solid strategic management and operations background.
He holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Valencia and has extensive experience leading multinational organizations in the Maldives. He previously served as the Country Manager for British American Tobacco, where he played a key role in driving growth and market expansion. Currently, he holds the position of Country Manager at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK Consumer), where he continues demonstrating his expertise in managing operations, fostering partnerships, and delivering sustained business success.
Mr. S.M. Muzammil

Committee member

S.M. Muzammil, General Manager at ADK Company Pvt Ltd, Maldives, has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, and general management.
Renowned for his leadership and problem-solving skills, Muzammil has led ADK since 1999, driving team performance, conflict resolution, and strategic decision-making. His career spans multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals and FMCG, where his contributions have strengthened ADK’s growth. Muzammil holds diplomas in marketing and management and is committed to continuous learning. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, sports, travel, and social work.
Mr. D Amanulla

Committee member

Mr. D. Amanulla is a career diplomat. He has held the position of Second Secretary at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Qatar and is presently serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Maldives.
Mr. Amanulla has a Masters degree in Conflict and Peace Studies from the University of Colombo, in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Peradeniya. He is fluent in Tamil, English, Sinhala and Arabic.
Mr. Sanjeeva Perera

Committee member

Sanjeeva Perera is a highly experienced leader in the hospitality industry, with an extensive career spanning both Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

He holds an MBA from the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates’ Association. Sanjeeva has also held various corporate memberships and prominent leadership positions, including serving as President of the Bentota-Beruwala Hoteliers’ Association and the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates’ Association. Currently, he serves as the General Manager of Cinnamon Velifushi and Cinnamon Ellaidhoo Maldives.

Mr. Deeptha Dias

Mr. Deeptha Dias is widely acknowledged as a leading figure in the expanding insurance industry in the Maldives, having more than 30 years experience in Sri Lanka and Maldives insurance industry.
He brings to Solarelle a wealth of experience and comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies of the insurance business, in particular, a keen understanding of the complexities of re-insurance arrangements and placements. He holds an MBA (US) and a Post Graduate Diploma.
Krishna Rengaraj

Committee member

Krishna Rengaraj is a Senior Partner at Ernst & Young, Maldives. He has over 30 years of public accounting experience. .He has served a number of international hotel investors, private enterprises, public interest entities and the government of Maldives.

He advises investors on business structures, tax planning, foreign investment approvals and related regulatory matters,    

Krishna is a Fellow member CA Sri Lanka, Fellow CA Maldives and a member of CIMA UK.

Mr. Ganesh Kumara G.D

Assistant secretary

Accomplished General Manager/Group General Manager with over 10 years of expertise in business hotel management, renowned for delivering exceptional hospitality and exceeding
customer expectations.


A dynamic leader with strong work ethics and integrity, skilled in Revenue Management,
strategic analysis, and property audits. Adept in food and beverage operations and enhancing customer service. Known for excellent interpersonal and communication skills, leading teams to achieve outstanding performance.
Proficient in strategic planning, human resources, and coordinating resources to optimize hotel operations and drive targeted sales and marketing strategies. Adept at fostering a culture of excellence and achieving business objectives in competitive
markets.

Deeptha Dias
